Coverage Tab

The coverage is an indicator of how well you are using or benefiting from the commitment. This shows how much of your cloud usage was covered by the purchased commitments.

  1. All/Savings Plans/Reserved Instance tabs: These tabs allow the user to segment the dashboard view by commitment type. Select All, Savings Plans, or Reserved Instance to display the corresponding utilization data.

  2. Filter: These dropdown filters allow for refining the dataset. Users can scope the report by Type and by Account.

  3. OpsNow Insight AI: An AI-driven analysis panel that provides a natural language summary of the cost data. It highlights significant trends, anomalies, and potential areas for investigation.

  4. Summary Coverage Information: This section displays key performance indicators (KPIs) summarizing the scope and financial implications of your commitment coverage.

    • Total Coverage: The percentage of your total cloud usage (by on-demand cost equivalent) that was successfully covered by any active commitment.

    • On-Demand Cost Equivalent: The total cost of all your resources for the period, calculated as if they were all billed at standard on-demand rates.

    • Actual On-Demand Cost: The portion of your spend that was not covered by any commitment and was therefore billed at on-demand rates. This represents your uncovered "leaked" cost.

    • Total Cost: The final, actual cost for all resources, combining the cost of your commitments with any remaining on-demand charges.

  5. Coverage Over Time Chart: It plots the daily breakdown of your usage into "My Commitment Cost Equivalent" (covered by your own commitments), "Other Cost Equivalent" (covered by shared commitments), and "Actual On-Demand Cost" (uncovered). The "Total Cost" line provides a baseline.

  6. Search Bar: This search field allows you to filter the data table below. You can enter keywords, such as a specific account name or ID, to quickly find the exact row of data you need.

  7. Download Button: This icon allows you to download and export the data from the detailed report, typically as a CSV or Excel file, for offline reporting and analysis.

  8. Table: This table provides a line-item breakdown of commitment coverage at the resource level. It includes the following columns:

    • Account Name (ID): The specific cloud account, identified by its name and unique ID, to which the resource belongs.

    • Type: The service or product category for the resource .

    • Region: The geographical location where the resource is deployed.

    • Platform: The operating system or database engine used by the resource.

    • Instance Type: The specific hardware configuration of the resource.

    • Coverage: The percentage of this resource's usage that was covered by any commitment.

    • My On-Demand Cost Equivalent: The monetary value of this resource's usage that was covered by your purchased commitments, shown at its on-demand price.

    • Other On-Demand Cost Equivalent: The monetary value of this resource's usage that was covered by commitments owned by other accounts, shown at its on-demand price.

    • Actual On-Demand Cost: The final cost for any portion of this resource's usage that was not covered by any commitment.

    • Total Cost: The final, actual cost of this resource for the period, including commitment costs and any on-demand charges.
